A lamp unto my feet
A long time ago, God gave me and my husband Jordan a vision of a place called Total Body Wellness Center. A place where people could go and get truly well: physically, spiritually, and mentally.
A person can be out of balance in any one of those areas and it will prevent them from living out their true, God-given potential. Just imagine if more people were living up to their potential, rather than being sick and tired all the time.
The mom at home with little ones, so tired she can hardly function, vs. a mom that has energy, is able to think clearly and knows what to feed her kids so they are healthy and vibrant as well. The dad who wakes up in pain and tired every day, grabs his coffee in the morning and struggles to stay awake and focused throughout the day, comes home exhausted and spends the rest of the night camped out on the couch, vs. a dad who wakes up feeling good and has energy throughout the day and can come home to be with his family and have the energy to engage with them. What a difference that can make in a person’s life, in a family’s life. It has the power to transform a community from struggling to thriving, from just getting by to being excited about life again.
I had no idea how/when Total Body Wellness Center would start, but just knew God would bring it about in His timing.
Well, aparently 2018 is the year! Its funny how it came about.
It started around March sometime when my mom told me she was unable to do “Grandma daycare” anymore. It was just getting to be too much for her to handle every week. She has a lot going on right now besides just being Grandma, so I completely understood. She was and is the best “daycare” a kid could ask for, coming with healthy snacks, crafts and activities every day and loving them in a way only a grandma can.
With my work schedule of only working part-time, it is rather difficult to find daycare options that would make it worth it to still work. We had absolutely no idea what to do, so we prayed, and prayed, and prayed some more.
One night God gave us our answer: start to see patients from your house.
I definitely didn’t see that coming! My home is in Wisconsin and I am not licensed in Wisconsin. Mostly because there was a law regarding the National Board Scores and a very expensive state exam. I knew there had been lots of protests about the requirements, but it never really effected me because I was practicing in Minnesota.
At first I thought I would look into just doing Nutrition or personal training from my home, but then my sister, mentioned she heard they were looking at changing the law for the National Board Score requirements in Wisconsin…
Not even a month after I looked into it, the law was signed by the WI governor and I was able to get a Wisconsin license.
Isn’t God’s timing amazing?!
Now, God has been leading me each and every day for getting all the things done that are necessary to start a Chiropractic business. Wow! I had no idea there were so many things to consider and get set up! Every day I wake up and ask God what I should focus on for the day. Usually it would be one or two small things, because doing anything business related with 3 young children is incredibly challenging. But I would always have the grace to get the day’s tasks done and keep moving forward.
I had no idea how Total Body Wellness Center would start, but now it is so close to being officially open for business! We are still taking it one day at a time, but someday, I know there is going to be a much bigger place called Total Body Wellness Center, with lots of patients going in and out that are truly thriving or on their way. Hope restored, lives changed, and God glorified.
It’s pretty cool how God works in our lives. He gives us a glimpse of the future or a vision for our lives, but doesn’t necessarily give us a map as to how to get there. He just gives us one step at a time and asks us to trust Him. He is a lamp unto our feet, that gives us just enough light and grace to take that next step. And then we move forward and he gives us the next step. There is still a very big gap from where I am now and where I know He is calling me. But that gap is getting smaller each and every day.
If you do not know what your calling is, I urge you to ask God to reveal something to you and/or ask Him to give you that first step.
Psalm 119: 105 Your word is a lamp unto my feet, a light to my path
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
